Norwegian Global Cleantech 100 company, Kebony is delighted to unveil its latest project, the Kebony-Wallpaper* Dog Retreat.

The one-off bespoke piece, made from sustainable Kebony ‘bones’, was exhibited from 17-22 April 2012 at the Wallpaper Handmade exhibition, Salone Internazionale del Mobile, Milan Furniture Fair.

Specially commissioned by Wallpaper* and working in collaboration with acclaimed Norwegian architects Jarmund / Vigsnaes AS (JVA), Kebony have delivered a dog house with a difference. A structure of interlocking Kebony Maple bones, which were made by Moderne Materiell, fit together to form a novel Nordic kennel.

The flat pack structure can be easily transported alongside the pampered pooch and is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. A polycarbonate sheet roof lets light into the dog retreat, whilst Kebony swings for both owner and dog can be strung up alongside for some four-legged family fun.

Kebony is an award-winning alternative to tropical hardwood and toxic-treated wood that is sustainable, environmentally-friendly, non-toxic, easily-maintained, aesthetic and resistant to decay.

It’s impressive durability and long lifespan in harsh climates makes Kebony the perfect choice for, not only a dog kennel, but a range of uses, including decking, flooring, cladding, roofing, windows and indoor and outdoor furniture.

Kebony’s pioneering ‘Kebonization’ process transforms sustainable wood species into those with comparable, and often superior, attributes to tropical hardwood making it a long-term, cost-effective choice.

Kebony’s Director of Marketing Jan Terje Nielsen said: "We are delighted to be involved in this year’s Wallpaper* Handmade and have very much enjoyed working alongside JVA to create this one-off bespoke Dog Retreat.

"Combining creativity and innovation with the very best in design, architecture and our pioneering sustainable wood product, we are looking forward to showcasing Kebony at this internationally-renowned landmark exhibition."

The Kebony-Wallpaper* Dog Retreat will be on display at the Wallpaper* Handmade Exhibition, at the Brioni palazzo during Salone Internazionale del Mobile, Milan from 17-22 April 2012.
